Welcome to Ancestral Tales......
......about the people, places and personalities that make up my family history. Although you will find some of the more usual genealogical information here, I am primarily interested in the life stories of my ancestors and the local histories of the places in which they lived.
As a starting point, I have focused on the families of my seven known great grandparents. Some of my ancestors have become real personalities to me, either because of extra information from letters, wills, etc. or through oral family stories and memories. Stories about each of these families can be found in the People pages. Descriptions about the places in which they lived and local history are given in the Places pages. Accounts of their working lives are in the Work section.
Family photographs and pictures of the places where they lived are displayed in the Photos pages. Descriptions of those displayed on other pages can be seen by holding your pointer over the image.
Women are referred to by their maiden names throughout.
Like all family histories, my research and writing-up continue and I will be updating and extending these pages at regular intervals. I have included a Stop Press section which lists the latest updates and contains new items to be incorporated into the main structure at a later date.
